The Rosary

The gospel according to Luke 1,26-33
“In the six month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary. And coming to her he said: “Hail favored one! The Lord is with you” but she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Then the angel said to her, Do not be afraid mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus, he will be great and will be called son of the most high, and the Lord God will give him the throne of david his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”
Mary is the mediator between God and man, heaven and earth. She is the new Eve. In the book of genesis, eve disobeyed God and brought sin to the world. While Mary in the new testament, accepted the heavenly call by saying YES to God, brought salvation to the world, and became a partner in the salvation of human kind. Mary received the title of “Mother of God” “Theotokos” in the council of Ephesus in Ad 431.
Devotion to the rosary is one of the most notable features of popular catholic spirituality. Praying the Rosary, is a sign of love for Mary, Mother of jesus. Catholics believe, the Rosary is a remedy against severe trials, temptations and the hardships of life, and that the Rosary is one of the great weapons given to believers in their battle against very evil.
